Who we are

Swann’s Garden is a family-run apiary in Fenny Drayton, Leicestershire. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Swann’s Garden is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

Information we collect

We collect information directly from you when you place an order or contact us. Depending on how you use the website, this may include:

• your name and email address;
• your delivery address where delivery is requested;
• the products you order and your chosen delivery or collection method;
• optional order or collection notes you choose to provide; and
• information you send us in an email or other enquiry.

Please do not put sensitive personal information, such as health information, in the order notes box.

Why we use your information

We use personal information to take and fulfil orders, arrange delivery or collection, communicate with you about your order, answer enquiries, keep appropriate business records and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Where information is needed to take steps at your request before a purchase or to fulfil your purchase, our lawful basis is contract. Where we need to keep or use information to comply with a legal requirement, our lawful basis is legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not add customers to a marketing mailing list simply because they have placed an order.

Payments

Online payments are completed through SumUp’s hosted checkout. Swann’s Garden does not ask you to enter your full card details into our website. Payment information entered on SumUp’s checkout is handled by SumUp under its own privacy and security arrangements.

Who receives your information

We only disclose personal information where this is necessary to run the website, process an order, deliver goods or meet a legal obligation. This can include service providers such as Cloudflare, which provides website and checkout infrastructure, SumUp, which processes payments, our email service providers, and postal or delivery providers where needed to deliver your order.

These providers may process information on our behalf or, in some circumstances, for their own legal and regulatory purposes.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reason it was collected. Order and transaction records may be kept for up to six years where this is appropriate for accounting, tax, legal or record-keeping purposes. Information that is only needed to arrange a delivery, collection or answer an enquiry is not kept longer than reasonably necessary for that purpose.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information and limit access to people and service providers who need it. Payments are made on SumUp’s secure hosted checkout rather than through a card-payment form operated by Swann’s Garden.

Cookies and similar technologies

The current Swann’s Garden website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The website and its infrastructure may use technologies that are strictly necessary for security, payment or core website functions. If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or similar technologies in future, we will update this notice and provide any consent choices required by law.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights over your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these may include rights to ask for a copy of your information, correct inaccurate information, ask for information to be deleted or restricted, object to certain uses, or receive information in a portable form. Not all rights apply in every situation.
